Math

Check out the following link for information on what we are learning in math right now. It may seem like a lot, but just know that for this module we are working on ways to add numbers within 10 and ways to break apart numbers within 10 into smaller pieces. When you look at it that way, it seems much easier to practice concepts with your child.

Ways to help at home:

  • Use fun apps like IXL or Prodigy Math (Prodigy is my FAVORITE). These make great rewards for good behavior because they’re so much fun and your child is learning! Let me know if you need your child’s login information for IXL or would like more information about how to get the most out of these apps! 🙂
  • Practice addition facts within 10. Flashcards are a GREAT way to do this! Once your child feels confident with addition, mix in some subtraction facts.
  • Take a group of 10 or fewer objects and split them into two groups. Count the objects in each group, referring to them as “partners.” For example: 6 and 4 are partners of 10; 3 and 5 are partners of 8; 2 and 1 are partners of 3. This video does a perfect job of explaining this!
